‘Wynonna Earp’ Is Officially Coming Back For Season 4

After a tumultuous few months, it’s official: cult-hit show Wynonna Earp is officially returning for Season 4 on SYFY in the US, and Space Channel in Canada.

Wynonna Earp – the series, the comics, the characters, the story and the fans are all deeply important to IDW so we are thrilled to be able to continue to tell the Wynonna story,” Lydia Antonini, President, IDW Entertainment said via statement. “From the very beginning, the fans have embraced the series and have transformed their passion into an inclusive community built upon empathy and support, as well as whiskey and donuts. We are grateful to have partners who were able to help us bring it back for a fourth season so that we can continue to serve the dedicated Earpers, and entertain fans everywhere.”

The series future was originally put in serious doubt when money reportedly fell through for the production of Season 4 of the show. The move was shocking to both cast and crew, as the production halted right before shooting was expected to begin. Still, the cast and crew remained committed to the show, as did the networks — the money just wasn’t there to actually make it.

Fans were extremely passionate about the supernatural western show, as well, as noted above, buying billboards in Times Square (and beyond) to promote their love of the series. Hashtags including #FightForWynonna regularly trended on Twitter, and the conversation about the show never really went away, despite a lack of updates.

Now, thanks in part to a deal with Cineflix Studios, which has come aboard to co-produce with Cineflix Rights handling international sales for all four seasons of the series, the show will go on. The show is currently expected to debut Summer, 2020 on SYFY and Space.
