‘A.P. Bio’ Earns Surprise Season 3 Renewal On NBC’s Upcoming Streaming Platform

This is one time we will not “begin shutting up”: A.P. Bio is back, baby!

The Hollywood Reporter announced that the recently-canceled NBC sitcom has been revived for a third season on NBC’s upcoming streaming service. Created by Mike O’Brien and executive produced by Lorne Michaels and Seth Meyers, the acerbic comedy about a disgraced Harvard professor (Glenn Howerton) forced to teach an advanced placement high school biology class garnered a passionate fanbase during its two year run on the Peacock. Despite modest linear ratings, the series earned strong digital numbers, so much so that The Hollywood Reporter article notes that NBCU execs are looking “to capitalize on the show’s strong digital performance.”

“I’m so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the fans,” O’Brien told THR. “The cast and I are thrilled that we get to make more and I’m excited to work with the NBCU streaming platform.”

Also starring Patton Oswalt, Paula Pell, and one of the most talented young ensembles on TV, A.P Bio is the first comedy to receive a series order for NBC’s yet to be named ad-supported streaming platform, which is set to launch in 2020. While it’s not yet known which actors will be returning, sources told THR that the cast was “eager to return to the series.”
