‘Mr. Robot’ Final Season Sneak Peek Asks “Was It Worth It?”

Way back in 2015, Mr. Robot debuted on the USA Network. Starring Rami Malek as an anarchist hacker named Elliot Alderson, and Christian Slater as the mysterious Mr. Robot, the Sam Esmail series was an instant hit with critics and fans.

lot has changed since then. Now, Malek is better known for his Academy Award winning role in the blockbuster biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, an entire Presidential election has happened, and the tech-based financial paranoia Esmail weaved into the show with his Kubrick-ian visuals seems almost quaint in comparison to the epic destruction happening in real life right outside our doors.

In the midst of all of this, Mr. Robot will be debuting its fourth and final season, which — of all things — takes place over Christmas, 2015. Described by USA as, “filled with hacking, splashed with blood and answer the series’ most pressing questions,” the final season doesn’t yet have a debut date, but it does have a sneak peek look at a scene.

In the video, the camera slowly pushes in on Elliot as an unseen woman questions him about the destruction he’s wrought over the past three seasons. “I wonder how many people you’ve had to hurt to get what you want?” she asks. “Hm? How many has it been, Elliot? How many people have had to suffer because of you? Was in worth it?”

Before Elliott can answer, the frame cuts to black, with the reveal that Mr. Robot will be debuting this Fall.

For those of you who haven’t kept up with the show, or have renewed interest because of Malek’s performance as Freddy Mercury, the short version is that Elliot created the Mr. Robot personality based on his dead father, and has been locked in a Fight Club style battle for control that has led to a massive financial collapse worldwide, multiple deaths, and maybe has something to do with time travel. Maybe.

Mr. Robot also stars Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Martin Wallström, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer and BD Wong.
