This weekend is set to be a scorcher, people. While your lesser-minded friends fight for spots by the pool or pile into a car to sit in traffic en route to a beach, you’ll be the smart one chilling inside and checking out everything Amazon Video, iTunes, Vudu and/or your cable’s on-demand service has to offer!
First up in the new releases bullpen is the always-hysterical Seth Rogen in Long Shot, a romantic comedy that will make you ask “how did he get someone like her?” You can also check out Little Woods, starring Lily James and Tessa Thompson. In Little Woods, two sisters find themselves in the illegal Canada-United States border drug world after their mother dies. Filled with thrills and suspense, James and Thompson execute top-notch performances that would be terrible to miss. You can also indulge yourself in a little taboo by watching Don Jon, the romantic comedy/drama starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Julianne Moore, which is now available to rent.

Long Shot
It is a tale as old as time: beauty and beast meet and despite societal pressure, the two fall in love. In Long Shot, however, the classic story gets a new, modern twist: Secretary of State Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron) is preparing to run for president when she unexpectedly reconnects with scruffy, free-spirited journalist Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen) at a party. The unlikely pair team up when Field impulsively hires Flarsky to write her campaign speeches, much to the chagrin of her advisors. As they embark on a round-the-world adventure together, Field and Flarsky come to learn more about each other’s values, experiences, and interests while also learning more about themselves. But when Field’s political future is threatened by her undeniable chemistry with the unconventional journalist, she must make a choice: will she sacrifice her ethics to promote her future? UglyDolls
Normal is boring in UglyDolls, the movie that—finally!—brings everyone’s favorite weird-looking plush toys to life. In the animated film, dolls are created and assigned to one child to love for life; but if a toy comes out deformed or misshapen, they are sent down to Uglyville, a remote town filled with eclectic yet happy dolls. One doll named Moxy (voiced by Kelly Clarkson) dreams of one day going into the ‘Big World’ and having a child of her own. The leader, the suave yet facetious doll named Louis (Nick Jonas), reluctantly lets Moxy and her crew participate in the trials. However, Louis has but one goal: to squash Moxy’s optimism and faith and to force her to realize that she is an ugly doll, an imperfect doll undeserving of love. Stacked with a fantastic cast including Blake Shelton, Wanda Sykes, Gabriel Iglesias, Charli XCX, Janelle Monaé and more, this musical comedy teaches everyone to embrace what makes them different and that your quirks make you special.
