Lance Bass Came Out to Britney Spears the Night She Married Jason Alexander: “It Made Her Stop Crying”

Lance Bass is always there for a friend in need — especially if that friend is Britney Spears. On Monday night, the *NSYNC star stopped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where he revealed that he first came out to Spears on the night of her wedding to Jason Alexander in 2004 (talk about a throwback). Bass told Cohen that immediately after she and Alexander got married, Spears became inconsolable, so he came out to her in an attempt to cheer her up. “It made her stop crying,” said Bass with a laugh.

Andy Cohen wasted no time before getting that early aughts gossip from Bass. “I remember you telling me that Britney Spears was one of the first people that you came out to,” said the Bravo host. “What was her reaction, and what was that moment like? Do you remember where you were?” Bass laughed before diving in. “It was the night that she got married the first time in Vegas,” he said. “Oh, to Jason Alexander,” replied Cohen, who smiled as he became fully aware that this story was going to be great.

“To Jason, yeah,” continued Bass. “So I went up to Vegas to see the craziness that was happening. And she was a little upset once she realized what she had done because, you know, it was a funny thing, and then she started like really crying. She was so upset. So I took her to her room and we were sitting on the bed, and she wouldn’t stop crying. So I was like, ‘I’m gay?’ And it made her stop crying. So, yeah.”

Cohen asked if Spears was “sweet and supportive,” and Bass assured him that she was. “Yeah, she chuckled,” recalled the *NSYNC-er. “That’s amazing. Wow,” said Cohen.
