Andy Cohen Fires Back After “Vile” Kathy Griffin Jab: “She’s Made Up a Lot”

Don’t expect Andy Cohen to go down without a fight. On Tuesday, the Bravo personality fired back at Kathy Griffin after she reignited their feud in a take-no-prisoners People interview, during which she told the magazine that Cohen “treated [her] like a dog.” Cohen told USA Today that fans shouldn’t believe Griffin, as she has “made up a lot of stuff” about him in the recent years, particularly after her severed Trump head photoshoot in 2017. The Watch What Happens Live host went on to defend his friend Anderson Cooper from Griffin’s “incredibly vile” insults, which he believes say “more about her than anything else.”

Last week, Griffin spoke with People Now about her tense relationship with Cohen, who replaced her on CNN’s 2018 New Year’s Eve broadcast after she was fired due to the infamous photoshoot. “Andy Cohen treated me like a dog. He was one of the worst bosses I’ve ever had,” she said, referencing her Bravo days from 2005 to 2013 (she starred in reality series My Life on the D-List and hosted a short-lived talk show, Kathy). “And also, the guy — [Cohen] decides the entire slate at Bravo, and yet he gave himself a talk show that magically gets renewed every year,” said the comedian. “So, you know, I had a talk show at Bravo for two years that got canceled. And I thought, ‘Yeah, in a way it’s competition for Andy.’ So, no, he has not been very kind.”

Of course, Cohen wasn’t going to take that lying down. On Tuesday, the Bravo-lebrity addressed the slight in a USA Today interview, saying, “She’s made up a lot of stuff about me in the past few years that has just been untrue and sad.” Continued Cohen, “I hope she finds some peace.”

Cohen also stood up for Cooper, his longtime friend and Griffin’s former New Year’s Eve co-host, after the comedian said he was not the “kind of guy” who pursues reconciliation (“I just don’t think he’s wired that way,” Griffin told People). The Bravo personality was brief but direct. “She said something that I found incredibly vile about [Cooper] last week that I think says more about her than anything else,” said Cohen.
