Amazon Orders Thriller ‘The Banker’s Wife’ to Series

If you’re looking for your next thriller obsession, look no further than The Banker’s Wife. Based on the best-selling novel by Cristina Alger, the eight-episode first season will come to Amazon’s Prime Video from writer Meredith Stiehm (Homeland) and director Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Now and Then).

“As soon as we read The Banker’s Wife, we knew this would be a series that our Amazon Prime Video customers will love, a fast-paced, compelling story that pulls you in immediately,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios via statement. “We’re thrilled to be working with Meredith and Lesli to bring their vision to the screen.”

Though Prime Video has erred on the side of manly-man thrillers like Jack Ryan and the upcoming Jack ReacherThe Banker’s Wife seems to be decidedly more in the mold of BBC America’s Killing Eve, focusing the series squarely on the women. Amazon describes the series as a “high-stakes international thriller set in the world of global finance, from Geneva to Paris, London and New York, about two women racing for answers when a mysterious plane crash sets them off on parallel pursuits of truth.”

Though hacking bank accounts isn’t always the most exciting thing to watch, visually, it sounds like The Banker’s Wife will amp up the danger considerably as the two women break into offshore accounts, and “become embedded in the crosshairs of danger within a larger conspiracy of money laundering, powerful politicians and a web of terrorists and criminals, thus transforming their lives forever.”

I myself, love to get embedded in crosshairs whenever I can, so this sounds delightful!

The Banker’s Wife will be produced by Amazon Studios and Federation Entertainment, with executive producer and writer Stiehm, executive producer and director Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland), and executive producers Sherry Marsh of Marsh Entertainment (Pose), and Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton. There is no debut date as of yet.
