A Woman Married Her Dog on Live TV

Fans of ITV’s This Morning, a British daytime program, were in for a shock when 49-year-old guest Elizabeth Hoad “married” her golden retriever, Logan, live during the show.

Hoad, who has had four failed engagements and has been on over 200 dates, told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford that she’s found “the one.” Hoad explained that she has sworn off men completely after her last boyfriend turned out to be married. Given that she spends all her time with her dog, a six-year-old rescue, Hoad said that it only made sense to celebrate that love, gushing, “He’s saved me and I’ve saved him.”

Later in the show, the hosts put on an actual wedding ceremony for the two. The golden retriever donned a full tux and top hat, while Hoad changed into a white dress, stilettos, and an oddly large, flowery headpiece.

The ceremony was officiated by former Big Brother contestant Alison Hammond, who had trouble keeping a serious face throughout her dog-pun filled address to the quasi-congregation. Kem Cetinay, Love Island’s 2017 winner, acted as Logan’s best man (and the holder of his leash). Hoad even came prepared with a wedding band for herself and a bracelet for Logan. The truly bizarre ceremony ended with Hammond half-bellowing, half-laughing, “I now pronounce you as dog and woman!”

This isn’t the first time people have entered into unorthodox unions. In 2017, 36-year-old Erika Anderson married herself, down to giving herself a ring. A 41-year-old Italian woman named Laura Mesi followed suit, also marrying herself in front of 70 people.

And last year, a woman named Amanda Teague married a 300-year old pirate ghost named Jack, only to break it off a few months later when she claimed the ghost tried to kill her. Here’s hoping Hoad doesn’t suffer the same fate with her new canine husband.
