Love Island is coming back for a Season 2. At the Television Critics Association’s 2019 summer tour, CBS announced that its hit summer reality show has been renewed.

Adapted from the UK reality show of the same name, Love Island follows a group of single contestants who all live together in a gorgeous tropical villa. Every few days the contestants have to couple up, and those who fail to find a fling run the risk of being booted from the island. It’s basically emotional Survivor but with an even better prize. The winning couple has a chance to meet the love of their lives AND walk away with a cash prize. Who said romance was dead?

“The passion of Love Island’s audience is incredible,” Kelly Kahl President, CBS Entertainment said during CBS’ day of the tour. “The intensity of their social media engagement has created tremendous enthusiasm for the series here at the network. We love the show’s creative execution and can’t wait for next season.”

Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Entertainment, also praised the freshman series’ success. “After its first season, the UK version exploded via word of mouth and social media to become a huge hit, and its viewership has grown every year. We believe first season U.S. fans are just as passionate and engaged and we look forward to building on that foundation with another fun season next summer,” Sherman said.

Though it’s only been on the air for a second, Love Island shows potential of becoming CBS’ next big reality show. As Decider’s own Lea Palmieri noted, it has the potential to give Bachelor in Paradise a run for its money, mostly because it’s completely unafraid to get down and dirty. For now it seems that Love Island is coupled up and safe. Season 2 is set to premiere in the summer of 2020.
