‘Drag Race’s’ Sharon Needles Digs Up Her Past in ‘Werq the World’ Clip

Just in case you’re one of the few RuPaul’s Drag Race superfans that hasn’t heard yet, Werq the World is a must watch. Produced exclusively for the WOW Presents Plus streaming service, the eye-opening docu-series allows for unprecedented backstage access to the most gagworthy drag tour in herstory. And with backstage access comes the kind of moments that you never get to see on Drag Race.

Each episode of the 10-part series highlights one of Drag Race’s most memorable queens, and last night’s was no exception. She’s beautiful, spooky, and stupid–she’s Sharon Needles! In an exclusive clip provided to Decider by WOW Presents Plus, we get a little glimpse of Sharon Needles’ origin story. As Sharon explains in the voiceover, she created her fierce persona as a form of release and a way to deflect all the bullying she endured growing up in Iowa. As Sharon says, drag is “more legal than hitting people.”

The Season 4 winner may crawl out of the darkness and into the spotlight in tonight’s installment, but this isn’t the first we’ve seen of the Party City monster. She had a lot of screentime in the season premiere, which focused on her protege Aquaria. You can check out the full episode of Werq the World on WOW Presents Plus, available right now.
