We may not know much about 13 Reasons Why Season 3, but we do know one thing: Nina Jones is coming back. At the Television Critics Association’s 2019 summer tour Samantha Logan spoke to Decider after a panel for All American about what was in store for both Nina and Olivia Baker.
“I don’t want to speak too much on it just because I haven’t spoken to anybody out of respect to their secrecy and their privacy,” Logan said when asked about Nina’s fate in 13 Reasons Why Season 3. “You can expect to see her again down the line but I won’t say when.”
A recurring character in Season 2, Nina becomes one of Jessica Davis’ (Alisha Boe) new friends. Sweet and brave, Nina is frank about being a rape survivor and is a huge help when it comes to Jessica confronting her own trauma.

When asked what went into portraying this complicated role, Logan highlighted the research it took, all of which was conducted on her own time. “I really wanted to educate myself on certain matters that I wasn’t aware of just because I come from a completely separate world from that. I’ve never experienced the trauma she went through and many other girls and men go through as well,” Logan said. “It was definitely hard but it was rewarding in the end. It felt good that people responded to it in a really great way. It was really nice to explore all of that.”
The actress also teased what was ahead for her All American character Olivia Baker. Season 1 of the series saw Olivia struggle with addiction and rehab as she tried to get her life back on track. “We saw the whole history of her recovering from drugs. That’s an ongoing struggle,” Logan said. “We’re really going to see her come into her own person and sort of find herself again and go on that journey, so I’m very excited for her to get to know herself again and see all the opportunities that come from that.”
