‘No Good Nick’ Recap: Everything You Need to Know Going into Part 2

The wait is over, No Good Nick fans! After waiting all summer, Part 2 of the Netflix multi-cam family/crime sitcom is finally out and ready to be binged. Also, yeah, No Good Nick is a family/crime sitcom, filmed in front of a live audience–the show is hard to classify!

Here’s a rundown of the show’s overall premise, just in case you’re new to the world of Nick. Siena Agudong plays Nick, a teenage con artist who easily infiltrated the unsuspecting and almost too wholesome Thompson family. She did so by frantically showing up on the family’s doorstep, claiming to be the orphaned daughter of Thompson patriarch Ed’s (Sean Astin) second cousin twice removed. She even had paperwork (totally forged, BTW) proving that she’s been in foster care while her next of kin was found. Now she’s supposed to move in with the Thompsons–and they fell for it!

Well, Thompson mom Liz (Melissa Joan Hart) and oldest kid Jeremy (Kalama Epstein) weren’t on board with the new addition. Jeremy’s younger sister Molly (Lauren Lindsey Donzis) was an easier sell. Despite some hesitation, Nick moved in and began scheming.

What is Nick’s plan on No Good Nick?

Right away, we learned that there are layers to Nick’s plan. On one level, she’s working with her real foster parents Dorothy (Molly Hagan) and Sam (Ted McGinley) to con the Thompsons out of all their money. But what Sam and Dorothy didn’t realize was that Nick didn’t pick the Thompsons randomly; she’s actually working with her real dad Tony (Eddie McClintock) to ruin the Thompson family as part of a revenge scheme.

What did the Thompson family do to Nick’s dad?

We still don’t know! It could have something to do with Ed’s job. He is a senior loan officer at a ban, after all. Banks, loans and the criminally inclined don’t mix well, so it’s possible Tony’s in jail because of something Ed did, even inadvertently.

How did No Good Nick Part 1 end?

In the Part 1 finale, Nick tried to pull off her biggest scam to date–yeah, even bigger than switching those wine labels! After getting a call from her jailbird dad telling her that he needed to pay his lawyer $10K ASAP, Nick orchestrated a fake estate sale to make a bunch of fast cash off of the Thompson’s furniture. But then the Thompsons ended up not going out of town to see Hamilton like Nick was counting on. Instead, they sold their tickets and threw Nick a surprise birthday party!

Nick managed to cancel the estate sale without tipping off the Thompsons, and she couldn’t help but be touched by all the thoughtful gifts. They even got her a bed of her own!

But things escalated in a bad way when Nick found out that the money–which she didn’t end up scoring–wasn’t for Tony’s lawyer. Her dad actually needed it to pay off a bruiser behind bars; when Nick visited her dad, she found him beaten and in bad shape. He also said there never was a lawyer. He’s just trying to pay off a guy he owes, and there’s no hope of him ever getting out.

With that revelation, Nick settled in for life with the Thompson’s, devastated that she’ll never be with her dad again but at least thankful to have a caring (if totally manipulated) foster family. But things aren’t going to go well in Part 2, because Liz made a shocking discovery.

Back before the surprise party, Jeremy requested the public record on Nicole Patterson from the Oregon State Department of Records. He didn’t read it, though, because Molly scolded him for not trusting their new foster sister. He tossed the file in the trash, but Liz picked it up. After the party, she wanted to prove to Jeremy that he was wrong about Nick by reading the file. Everything checked out… until they got to the photo of Nicole Patterson. The pic was of someone else!

The very last shot of Part 1 was of Liz holding some other Nicole’s file, asking her son “who the hell is living with us?” It looks like the home Nick conned her way into is about to get wise to her scam. How will she get out of this jam? And will we find out what Ed did to her dad? And will Tony survive Part 2?! These are all valid questions, and we can only hope Part 2 has answers!
