After an unprecedented few months of virtual episodes, The View is officially heading into its 2020 summer hiatus. Beginning today, Monday, August 3, The View will be off the air to give its co-hosts and crew some much-needed time off before the Season 24 premiere in September — and more importantly, the 2020 presidential election. Lord knows they’ll need it.
If you’ve continued to tune in to The View as the show transitioned from regular broadcasts to partial-studio tapings to fully-remote episodes, you probably have some questions about the show’s summer hiatus. Is The View on summer hiatus 2020? Did The View get canceled? Here’s everything you need to know, and then some!
THE VIEW CANCELLED 2020: DID THE VIEW GET CANCELLED?
Fret not: The View has not been canceled. On Friday, July 31, The View aired its final episode of Season 23, and for the next month, viewers will have to spend their mornings without Meghan McCain, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin. But don’t worry, the show will definitely be returning in the fall!
IS THE VIEW ON SUMMER HIATUS 2020?
Yes, The View‘s 2020 summer hiatus officially begins today, Monday, August 3, and will run for the next five weeks.
IS THE VIEW ON TODAY? THE VIEW HIATUS SCHEDULE
This one is a little more confusing. Technically, The View will still be on during its regular time slot (Monday to Friday at 11/10c), but ABC will be airing re-runs every day until the live show returns in September. These repeat episodes will feature interviews with Dr. Jill Biden, Amy Schumer, former National Security Advisor John Bolton, President Trump’s niece Mary Trump, and more Season 23 guests, so if you missed an episode when it aired live, be sure to tune in for the re-run.
WHEN DOES THE VIEW RETURN IN 2020? THE VIEW SEASON 24 PREMIERE DATE?
The View will return for its Season 24 premiere on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, the day after Labor Day.
IS MEGHAN MCCAIN LEAVING THE VIEW?
As of now, Meghan McCain is expected to return to The View Season 24 alongside her three co-hosts.
However, McCain is currently pregnant, and she will likely go on parental leave sometime in the fall. The co-host has not divulged many details about her pregnancy, but on July 15, she replied to a tweet about Kevin Hart’s pregnant wife and wrote that “3rd trimester is gnarly.” I’m no scientist, but if McCain’s third trimester began in July (or even earlier), it stands to reason that she will give birth sometime between now and October, which means that she could be off The View until after the presidential election.
