His mission: turn his passion for old cars and restoration into profit by fixing up whatever he can find in Rust Valley with the help of his son and best friend.

The series stars Mike Hall and his son Connor Hall, as well as Mike’s friend Avery Shoaf. The three of them work at Rust Bros. restoration shop, turning junked out old cars into totally sweet rides. As far as Americans are concerned, yes. The series actually debuted in Canada last year, on the History Canada network. It debuted in December 2018 and is making its way to international markets via Netflix. A similar thing happened with the reality competition show Blown Away, which debuted in Canada earlier this year before becoming an under-the-radar hit for Netflix as an original series this summer.

Where is Rust Valley Restorers filmed?

As described, Rust Valley Restorers is set in a quiet part of the Rocky Mountains–but they mean the Canadian part of the Rocky Mountains. Not surprising for a show that premiered on History Canada, Rust Valley Restorers was also filmed in Canada–specifically a tiny town called Tappen.

Tappen is a settlement in British Columbia, the province located alllll the way to the west of the country. Tappen’s a small town, and the nearest point of reference for Canadians is the city Kamloops (pop: 90K). Mike’s son Connor is actually from Kamloops.
