Johnny Galecki May Be Returning to ‘The Conners’ Season 2

Will Johnny Galecki be returning to The Conners for Season 2? It sure looks that way. Over the weekend, Galecki teased a potential return to the Roseanne Barr-less spinoff series, writing on Instagram, “I may be putting the (literal/figurative) pants of David Healy back on for one or two more stories.” The actor reprised his role as David, Darlene Conner’s (Sara Gilbert) husband, in two episodes of The Conners Season 1, but now that The Big Bang Theory is officially over, he has time to complete his character’s arc. Here’s hoping that “one or two more stories” turns into one or two more seasons!

On Sunday, Galecki posted a photo of his Roseanne-turned-Conners co-stars Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert, who appear to be squeezing him into a pair of very tight pants. “I may be putting the (literal/figurative) pants of #davidhealy back on for one or two more stories on @theconnersabc this year,” wrote the actor. “Twenty some years later I’m still in awe of this freakass carnie group who adopted me early on and still learn so very much from them whenever in their presence.”

Galecki appeared as David Healy, Darlene’s on-again, off-again love interest, on the original Roseanne from 1992-1997 (Seasons 4-10). He was featured in one episode of the Roseanne reboot series before it was canceled due to Barr’s infamous racist tweet in May 2018. When The Conners returned as a standalone spinoff series in October 2018, Galecki’s David made another appearance — but this time, he arrives with a new girlfriend named Blue (Juliette Lewis). After a heartfelt discussion, David and Darlene finally agree to get a divorce, but then, in the Season 1 finale, David returns — homeboy does a lot of returning! — and tells Darlene that he still loves her. Talk about a whirlwind romance.

The Conners Season 2 premieres Tuesday, September 24 on ABC.
