Adam Demos, the Hot Contractor in ‘Falling Inn Love,’ Used to Work in Construction IRL

In Falling Inn Love, the latest light-hearted romantic comedy from Netflix, Christina Milian‘s meet-cute with Adam Demos’s character is simultaneously the best and worst meet-cute I have ever witnessed: Her suitcase crashes into his truck. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s not that Adam Demos’s truck crashes into Christina Milian’s suitcase! It’s that Christina Milian’s suitcase crashes into Adam Demos’s truck.

I’ll let you watch the film yourself to figure out how exactly that one works, but in the meantime, let’s talk about Demos. As the romantic lead of Falling Inn Love, Demos—an Australian actor—plays a New Zealand hottie named Jake Taylor. Though that name may call to mind a bland country music star or the worst-yet-best-looking player on a minor league baseball team, Jake Taylor is a part-time contractor and a part-time fireman. After the whole suitcase-and-truck incident, he and Milian’s character, Gabriela, get off on the wrong foot. At first, she refuses his help to fix up the New Zealand inn she won via an inn-winning contest, but she can’t resist Jake’s charms for long. Eventually, they agree to go into business together—the business of inn-flipping, and the business of falling in (or, sigh, inn) love.

To Demos’s credit, he is very charming as Jake. He’s also very muscle-y and glistening, which comes in handy for his obligatory “rips off his t-shirt after doing manual labor in the hot sun” scene. But while we all know about Milian’s background as an early 2000s pop star, what about Demos? Here’s everything you need to know about Adam Demos from Falling Inn Love.

Who is Adam Demos?

Demos is a 33-year-old actor from Wollongong, a city on the coast of New South Wales, Australia. He wasn’t always an actor, however. Before he broke into the industry, Demos was a construction worker, which we’re sure helped get him into character as contractor Jake Taylor. In an interview with the Australian magazine Now To Love, Demos said he eventually grew tired of the many odd jobs he was doing to make ends meet—which included demolition, a roofing company, and the Port Kembla steelworks—so he took a beginning acting course in Sydney without telling his friends.

What else has Adam Demos been in?

After his acting course, Demos landed a few small roles on Australian shows like Home and Away (2009), Rescue: Special Ops (2009), and Winners & Losers (2013). In 2017, he nabbed a regular gig as Nate Baldwin on Janet King, a spin-off of the popular Australian legal drama Crownies. Then in 2018, Demos broke into Hollywood when he landed a lead role on the third and fourth seasons of Marti Noxon’s critically-acclaimed Lifetime/Hulu drama based on The Bachelor, UnREAL. Demos plays August Walker, a man-bun-wearing suitor vying for the Bachelorette’s attention. The series has officially concluded, but you can still watch Demos’s episodes on Hulu. Meanwhile, Demos’s UnREAL costar Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman plays his romantic rival in Falling Inn Love.
