Sometimes you don’t need to see the first film to enjoy or even merely understand the sequels—Angel Has Fallen, I’m looking at you—but this I highly doubt that will be true when it comes to the highly-anticipated IT: Chapter Two, which is in theaters this Friday. This is not just any sequel, my friends. This is the second half of one story, both parts of which are bound together in one horror novel published by author Stephen King in 1987.

The kids terrorized by the clown Pennywise in the 2017 film It (which was renamed IT: Chapter One after its release) are now all grown up in the second film: Jaeden Lieberher is now James McAvoy, Sophia Lillis is now Jessica Chastain, Jeremy Ray Taylor is now Jay Ryan, Finn Wolfhard is now Bill Hader, and so on. And of course, Bill Skarsgård is back as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

I am so sorry to tell you that the first It is not on Netflix, despite its influence on their biggest hit, Stranger Things.

The 2017 It film is not available to regular Hulu subscribers, which is very sad. However, the film is available to subscribers who opt-in to the CINEMAX add-on. If you haven’t used up your free trial yet, that could be the perfect way to catch the film.
