Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Bad Boys ride together, and they die together. This afternoon, Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped the first trailer for Bad Boys for Life, the third film in the action franchise. Judging by the trailer, the new installment features plenty of buddy cop banter, massive explosions, and high-stakes drama, so fans of the franchise should have nothing to worry about when the film hits theaters in on January 17, 2020.

Bad Boys for Life picks up more than 15 years after the events of Bad Boys II: Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) has been promoted to police inspector, while Mike Lowery (Smith) finds himself in the middle of a midlife crisis. When an Albanian mercenary — whose brother they previously killed, obviously — promises the lifelong friends an important bonus, Burnett and Lowery put aside their professional and personal issues and unite for another round of drug bustin’.
