Dylan Farrow Slams Joy Behar, Scarlett Johansson for Defending Woody Allen: “A Truly Abhorrent Mischaracterization”

Dylan Farrow is speaking out against Joy Behar and Scarlett Johansson after they dismissed her sexual abuse claims. In a series of tweets posted yesterday and today, Farrow slammed the stars for defending Woody Allen amid allegations of abuse (the director has denied the claims). “If we’ve learned anything from the past two years it’s that you definitely should believe male predators who ‘maintain their innocence’ without question,” she wrote.

Johansson’s defense of Allen first went viral on Wednesday, when The Hollywood Reporter published a new interview with the actress. “I believe him, and I would work with him anytime,” she told the outlet. The actress’ statement was immediately slammed by critics, and a few hours later, Farrow responded via Twitter. “Because if we’ve learned anything from the past two years it’s that you definitely should believe male predators who ‘maintain their innocence’ without question,” she wrote. “Scarlett has a long way to go in understanding the issue she claims to champion.”

On Thursday, the women of The View devoted a Hot Topics segment to Johansson’s THR interview, and Behar came out swinging. “When somebody is accused of such a heinous crime as child molestation, you say to yourself, ‘What do I believe?'” asked the longtime co-host. “There is evidence — the Connecticut State Police brought in an investigative team from the Yale New Haven hospital. Their six month-long inquiry, which included medical examinations, concluded that Dylan had not been molested.”

Behar went on to say that Farrow’s brother Moses “states that he was a witness and nothing happened,” so at some point, people have to ask if they are going to believe “the authorities who investigated this, or people who are making accusations.” Continued Behar, “But this, with the little girl, he has been exonerated by the experts.” Sunny Hostin pushed back, saying that a judge “found that [Farrow] had to be protected against [Allen’s] advances,” but the damage was done. “The only people you trust are the experts on the situation, which is the Yale New Haven hospital,” Behar repeated a few seconds later.

The vehement defense of Allen didn’t sit well with Farrow. Immediately after the segment aired, she tweeted at The View, writing, “Surprising that in discussing my case this morning no one mentioned that the prosecutor in my case, after evaluating ALL the evidence, found probable cause to press criminal charges against Woody. He chose not to only in order to spare me further trauma.” Farrow then called out Behar directly. “Joy Behar saying that the experts have exonerated Woody Allen is utterly false and a truly abhorrent mischaracterization,” she added.
