‘The Masked Singer’ Reveals Johnny Weir as The Egg and Professional Gamer Ninja as Ice Cream

Who’s ready for another round of The Masked Singer? On Wednesday night, Fox’s singing competition returned for its second season, and it did not disappoint. After two hours of rocking performances, fans were treated to not one, but two shocking eliminations that revealed the true identity of Egg and Ice Cream. So, who was unmasked on The Masked Singer last night? Meet your new Egg head, ice skater Johnny Weir, and Ice Cream lover Richard “Ninja” Blevins, a professional gamer and internet personality.

The Masked Singer Season 2 premiere introduced fans to eight new characters: Egg, Butterfly, Skeleton, Thingamajig, Ladybug, Rottweiler, Tree, and Ice Cream. In the first round, The Egg squared off against The Butterfly, but first, Humpty Dumpty revealed some important clues about his identity. “I’m strong on the outside, and vulnerable on the inside,” said the masked performer. “After years of being on top of the pyramid, I’m here to join the ranks of the greatest, most versatile entertainers of our time.” The Egg added that they’re “going for the gold” this year, but promised that he’ll be “a tough one to crack.”

The Egg went on to perform “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga, and the panelists were impressed by his “egg-cellent” vocal skills. Jenny McCarthy suggested that he may be a professional ice skater like Weir or Adam Rippon, while Ken Jeong guessed Queer Eye‘s Jonathan Van-Ness. Unfortunately, The Egg didn’t sparkle as much as he intended, and he was voted into the bottom four. Later, the protein-packed contestant lost his Smackdown battle — The Skeleton lives on! — and was forced to take his mask off, revealing none other than… two-time Olympian skater Johnny Weir!

Ice Cream suffered a similar fate later in the two-hour broadcast. The masked contestant brought some unique flavor to his clue package, telling viewers that he’s used to performing in front of large crowds, although he does so in “a different kind of mask.” Explained Ice Cream, “I believed in my ridiculous dream, and I turned my fantasy into a reality. Now, I’ve got over a billion reasons to be proud of my hard work and determination.” Could it be a business mogul? A well-known YouTuber?

One performance of “Old Town Road” later, the panelists had a few ideas about the identity of “Lil Ice Cream X” (good one, Nick Cannon!). McCarthy suggested Rob Dyrdek or Diplo, Robin Thicke guessed Calvin Harris, and Nicole Scherzinger went with Snapchat creator Evan Siegel. It turns out that their guesses were a little too mainstream. At the end of the show, Ice Cream pulled off his mask, and Ninja’s face smiled back at the audience. It wouldn’t be The Masked Singer without D-list celebrities, would it?

Next week, The Masked Singer will introduce a new group of contestants, and one more will be unmasked. Who will it be? Tune in next Wednesday, October 2, at 8/7c on Fox to find out.
