Following a stunt gone wrong, Batwoman star Ruby Rose shared footage of the emergency surgery she had to receive. And the injury was far worse than we originally thought. According to Rose, it could have paralyzed her.

Rose has yet to reveal which stunt was the cause of her injury. But we do know that Rose was filming Batwoman around the time she sustained the injury. The actress is the lead on the Arrow-verse’s drama about Batman’s cousin, which is set to premiere on October 6. Prior to this role, Rose was best known for starring as the memorable and lovable Stella in Season 3 of Orange Is the New Black.

Rose started her post about her surgery by joking, “Well that was fun.” The actress also revealed that she now has a “Pez dispenser” scar left over from the operation.

“I was told a couple of months back that I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed,” Rose wrote on Instagram. “I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal cord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms.” The post also includes a video of Rose’s surgery. Warning, it’s graphic:

If you’re wondering why Rose posted something so intimate to Instagram, she already has an answer for you. “To anyone asking why I let them video” the surgery … Did you not watch that Grey’s Anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient??” Rose joked. “Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under.”

This isn’t the first time Rose has undergone a major medical procedure. In 2018 the actress and model had another “back procedure” to correct a long-standing spine issue. According to People magazine, she had to use a wheelchair for a time. Here’s hoping that Rose has a safe and speedy recovery. She’s too precious to be under the knife for long.

Batwoman premieres on The CW Sunday, October 6 at 8/7c.
