Will There Be a ‘The Politician’ Season 2?

This fall Netflix got a lot more glamorous with the premiere of The Politician. If you’re anything like us you’ve already binge-watched all eight episodes in Season 1 and are itching for your next overly-dramatic fix. But when will The Politician Season 2 premiere?

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuck, and Ian Brennan, The Politician may be one of the most visually arresting shows Murphy has ever created. Each season follows a different political race in the life of Payton Hobart (Ben Platt), an extremely wealthy young man who is convinced that he will become President of the United States. That ambition takes him through multiple assassination attempts, betrayals, countless lies, and some of the most conniving and heartless characters brought to television. If you’ve ever wanted to see Gwyneth Paltrow at her most serene and Jessica Lange at her most manic, this is the show for you. Will The Politician Have a Season 2?

The drama will continue. A second season of The Politician has already been ordered. When Netflix announced it had picked up the Ryan Murphy comedy-drama, it announced that it has picked up two episodes straight to series. Much like with Season 1 we know that Season 2 will revolve around a different election in the life of Payton and his allies.

When Is The Politician’s Season 2 Release Date?

At the moment it’s too early to say. But that early two-season pickup is a very good sign. We’re cautiously hoping that The Politician will return in fall of 2020.

What Could Happen in The Politician Season 2?

This time Payton is going big time and taking on the New York State Senate. Season 1 ended with Payton at his lowest. After losing his family’s wealth, his admission to Harvard, the respect of his family and friends, his girlfriend, and most importantly his position as president of his high school, Payton was a drunken mess. That is until his trusty No. 2 McAfee (Laura Dreyfuss) noticed that New York State Senate Majority Leader Dede Standish (Judith Light) was running unopposed and with an embarrassing campaign.

That’s the politician race Payton and his many allies will be targeting in Season 2. Be prepared to see a Ben Platt vs. Judith Light and Bette freaking Midler face-off. No matter what happens, we know one thing. It’s going to be dramatic.
