Who is The Black Widow on ‘The Masked Singer’?

We’re only two episodes into The Masked Singer Season 2, and we’ve already reached peak craziness. On Wednesday night, the Fox singing competition introduced four new contestants, including The Leopard, The Black Widow, The Panda, and The Flamingo. While Panda was ultimately revealed to be professional boxer Laila Ali, it was Black Widow who got the most attention with her sultry voice and creepy-crawly clue package. The masked contestant has already captivated viewers, and now, we have some theories about her identity. Who is The Black Widow on The Masked Singer?

In last night’s episode, the contestants of Masked Singer Group C faced off in a hard-sung battle. The first to perform was The Black Widow, who wowed the audience with her fun rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” She easily beat The Leopard, who was voted into the bottom two and faced off against The Panda. After the Smackdown battle, The Panda was voted off and had to take off her mask, and her identity was revealed to be Laila Ali, daughter of the great Muhammad Ali. She knows a little something about hard-fought matches, doesn’t she?

But let’s be honest: Ali’s Panda has nothing on the mysterious,Black Widow. Here’s everything you need to know about The Black Widow on The Masked Singer, a contestant who’s already wrapped viewers up in her web.

Who Is Black Widow on Masked Singer? Everything We Know About The Black Widow

The Black Widow’s Masked Singer clue package provided some important hints about her identity. “I’ve been packaged my entire life,” she said. “After years of living in the public life, you’re in my house now. Welcome to my empire.” Black Widow also said that her Masked Singer stint should be considered “the director’s cut” of her life, suggesting that she has experience in Hollywood. “You’ll find I’m a little edgier, darker, and more alien than you know me to be,” added the masked contestant. “You’d better believe that on this stage, I’m going to be good as hell.” Lizzo, go off, sis!

Between the rolls of film, televisions, time code slate, and talk of “packaging,” Black Widow’s clue package heavily suggested that she’s an actress or director. If the “Empire” clue is to be believed, she could be an actress on Fox’s hit drama — perhaps Taraji P. Henson or Grace Byers? We already know that the ladies of Empire can sing, and it wouldn’t be too surprising for Fox to pull actors from their own shows. There was also a giant peach in the background of The Black Widow’s lair, suggesting that she has some suggestion to Georgia or the Atlanta area. Or maybe she just loves peaches. Who knows!

After her performance — which displayed some serious singing and dancing ability — The Black Widow provided another clue about her identity. When host Nick Cannon asked why she identified with her character, the contestant said, “I like to hide until it’s time to feast.” Unfortunately, this doesn’t help us too much (who doesn’t love a good Thanksgiving dinner?), but our battle to identify Black Widow rages on.

Who Is The Black Widow on The Masked Singer? Here’s Who the Judges Think The Black Widow Is

The Masked Singer‘s panel had more than a few thoughts about The Black Widow’s identity on Wednesday night. After her performance, the judges threw out a variety of guesses, including Sherri Shepherd, Glee‘s Amber Riley, and Cardi B (okay, that was a joke). No one was more convinced of their choice than Ken Jeong. “This may be one of my cast mates from Community,” he said. “My good friend Yvette Nicole Brown, who was never able to express her range on Community. Everybody on the show knew she was an amazing singer.”

Is Ken Jeong correct? Could The Black Widow be Yvette Nicole Brown? The actress and TV personality is known for her bubbly personality, but perhaps she’s actually edgier than she seems.

So, Who Is The Black Widow on Masked Singer? The Black Widow Might Be…

The Internet doesn’t seem to agree with any of the judges on this one. Many viewers at home believe that The Black Widow is Raven Symoné, which would be hilarious, because The Flamingo is more than likely her Cheetah Girls co-star Adrienne Bailon. Cheetah Girls, Cheetah Sisters has never been so real. Other popular guesses include Taraji P. Henson, Lizzo (that “good as hell” clue is throwing people for a loop), and Kandi Burress. But all that being said, we’ll likely have to wait a while to figure out The Black Widow’s true identity: with those singing chops, the masked contestant isn’t going home any time soon.

The Masked Singer airs every Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.
