Raising Dion is Netflix’s latest season of bingeable sci-fi, a totally fresh take on the superhero origin story told through the point of view of an elementary school kid with powers and his single mother. The series comes from executive producer Michael B. Jordan, one of the biggest actors working in Hollywood today. Creed, Black Panther, Fruitvale Station–Michael B. Jordan is one of the definitive actors of the past few years. He’s no stranger to TV, either, thanks to regular roles on Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, and The Wire.
As one of the most bankable names on the big screen, you have to wonder how Michael B. Jordan carved out time in his surely busy schedule to film a Netflix original series. He’s the biggest name in the cast by far, and people are gonna want as much MBJ as they can get! So the question is, how much is Michael B. Jordan in Raising Dion?
How much is Michael B. Jordan in Raising Dion? (No spoilers)
Let’s put it this way: Michael B. Jordan is billed as a guest star. That at least tells you that he’s not gonna be in every episode—and that’s correct. Michael B. Jordan is not in every episode of Raising Dion. That’s pretty clear from not only the first episode, but from the series synopsis that was released before the show debuted. We know that Dion’s father, played by Jordan, is dead. It’s a little harder for a dead character to be a series regular on a TV show (although that certainly has been done before).

Okay, I’ll tell you a little bit more. Michael B. Jordan is in three episodes of Raising Dion Season 1 as Mark. He’s in the first episode, via flashbacks and video messages that he sent his wife Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) while he was traveling for work. Mark returns in Episode 5, which has extensive flashbacks to Mark’s life and his death. And then he pops back up again in the season finale.
How much is Michael B. Jordan in Raising Dion? (Even more spoilers but not all the spoilers)
In Episode 1, we also see Mark in a totally surprising place: as a weird rain ghost in the middle of a creepy storm! Later, in Episode 5, we get a flashback of Mark working for BIONA in Iceland during the (again, spoilers) climate/meteorological event that gave everyone in the vicinity strange abilities. And we also see his death, when he saved the life of a mystery woman named Charlotte Tuck (Deirdre Lovejoy). He pops back up in Episode 9, the season finale, where we get to see him meet his future wife Nicole for the very first time.
