Chef Kevin Dobson Spent Most of The ‘Below Deck’ Premiere in The Bathroom

Tonight we got to know Chef Kevin Dobson perhaps more intimately than we’ve ever met a chef on Below Deck before. But here’s what you needed to know about his talents outside of the bathroom.

Chef Kevin didn’t quite get off on the right foot in his first installment of the Bravo series, which takes place in Thailand this year, but he did ultimately persevere. He started to get a bit anxious when the first lunch didn’t go out at the exact minute he wanted it to be delivered to guests, but the boat kept sailing.

“I’ve definitely made a waitress or two cry, but I think that’s all behind me now,” he admitted in his interview. Chef Kevin’s been a professional chef for 15 years and a yacht chef for six, fully aware that “I think I come off a little bit cocky.”

According to his BravoTV.com bio, the New Zealand native started working in a bakery at 12-years-old, and if you think that’s impressive, he started culinary school at 14. It was after his daughter was born that he started working on private yachts to rake in the cash.

Unfortunately for Chef Kevin, this latest excursion got off to a rocky start, especially for his stomach. After doubling over with cramps, he took his discomfort to his tiny cabin’s bathroom. “The stomach thing today is, Jesus, it’s got me,” he admits. While he asks chief stew Kate Chastain for meds to help, she’s unsure if you’re supposed to “slow it down or speed it up,” leaving Kevin to suffer in the bathroom — with no noise spared. “Jesus, Mr. Dobson!” he’s heard exclaiming from the toilet, among many other sounds. Don’t worry though, this left the Below Deck editors with plenty of opportunities to flash to shots of the melted chocolate sitting out in the galley, abandoned by Chef Kevin while he tended to his gastrointestinal issues. Hopefully, his stomach settles and he doesn’t spend the current charter guests’ big day tied to the toilet.

Below Deck airs Monday at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo.
