As much fun as it is, Halloween comes with a lot of pressure. You can’t settle for any old costume. You need something that expresses how fun, clever, and with-it you are, without being too insufferable. If you’re in the market for a kickass Halloween costumer look no further than Bob’s Burgers. No one walks the line between pun-loving and delightful better than the Belcher children.

They first flexed their costume expertise in Season 4. That’s when they forced their parents to make a Chinese Dragon costume for five, but lied about having 10 children underneath those scales. If they weren’t trapped by Louise’s insane stalker Millie (voiced by Molly Shannon) they would have been swimming in deceptively obtained nougat.

Since that early con, the Belcher children’s costumes have transitioned from deceitful to just plain brilliant. No matter what your passions are there’s a Belcher kid you can shamelessly rip off this season.

Do you love darker pop culture deep cuts? Then naturally Louise (voiced by Kristen Schaal) is your muse. Over Bob’s Burgers nine seasons Louise has dressed as the winking and warped Dragon with the Girl Tattoo, Javier Bardem’s character in No Country for Old Men, Ryan Gosling’s getaway driver in the hit 2011 movie Drive, and Edward Scissorhands. That last one may seem pretty cliche until you remember it involves a nine-year-old girl running around with scissors:

Looking for something lighter but still obscure? Gene (voiced by Eugene Mirman) and his mom Linda (voiced by John Roberts) are your gals. So far Gene has collected candy as Andre the Giant 3000 — a combination of Andre the Giant and Andre 3000 — Queen Latifah during her U.N.I.T.Y. phase, a half-man and half-dog version of Turner and Hooch better known as Turner and Pooch, and handsome grapes. Is that last one a Fruit of the Loom reference? Who knows? But he sure does look handsome.

Also, all of Gene’s costumes are super easy to make. You can even see the tape on his construction paper hat. All you need is a thirst to be different and fabulous and whatever’s lying around your house and you too can be Andre the Giant 3000:

And what is more fabulous than Linda’s music-loving Cher-iff? Save for Cher herself, literally nothing:

But the true queen of Halloween is undoubtably Tina Belcher (voiced by Dan Mintz). Her skills for turning stupid puns into actually hilarious costumes are unparalleled from her sand-witch and mommy mummy to her Mom-bie and her Nun of Your Business ensemble. The latter comes complete with a habit and a briefcase:

Also, Tina was the creator of the best costume this show has ever seen: a hot mess. Naturally it was stolen by her frenemy Tammy (voiced by Jenny Slate), but just look at those cardboard flames in their majestic, grungy glory. Take in how well the trucker hat plays next to the sexy Judge Judy costume. This is Halloween art at its finest:

As a general rule it’s not great to steal from children. But this Halloween season you should do it. Rob the Belcher children blind of their intellectual property. You may feel bad at first, but we guarantee that guilt will fade away the first time someone guffaws at your Turner and Pooch.
