Netflix's 'Insatiable' Canceled After Two Seasons
The most controversial show on Netflix is back. Today, Insatiable returned to Netflix for its second season of pageant drama, morality battles, and one very surprising murder cover-up. If you enjoyed the first season — and if you got past the “fat-shaming” criticism thrown at the first trailer — then there’s plenty for you to enjoy in Insatiable Season 2, which continues to probe the depths of Patty’s (Debby Ryan) rage, as well as the lengths her friends and family are willing to go to protect her.
Insatiable Season 2 picks up just seconds after the events of the Season 1 finale (**spoilers ahead**). After Patty and Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts) push Christian’s (James Lastovic) car into a lake to hide evidence of his murder, Patty reveals that she also may have killed Stella Rose (Beverly D’Angelo), a pageant mentor turned judge. The two continue to cover up the murders, but their attempt to return to normalcy is complicated by their inner demons — not to mention their consciences. Over the course of the next 10 episodes, Bob’s loyalties are tested, especially when other beauty queens start turning up missing. Is Patty’s rage to blame? Did she really kill Stella Rose, or is there something else afoot in their small town?
In addition to Ryan and Roberts, much of the Insatiable cast has returned for the dramedy’s second season. Alyssa Milano is back as Coralee Huggens-Armstrong, who learned a major secret about her husband towards the end of Season 1. Sarah Colonna also returns as Angie Bladell, Patty’s mother, alongside Christopher Gorham, Erinn Westbrook, Kimmy Shields, and more.
The Netflix series opened to a harsh reaction from critics (it currently boasts a 13% Critics Score on Rotten Tomatoes, but an 84% Fresh Audience Score), but fans seem to be enjoying Season 2 so far. “The fan-service was amazing, the insanity was thrilling, and the finale was magnifique,” wrote one Twitter user. “Less than 5 minutes in and I’m reminded why I love this show so much,” added another.
