Look, I love Zombieland. Have I seen it since 2009? No. Did I have great taste in movies as a teenager in rural Michigan? No. Am I afraid that a rewatch in 2019 would reveal that this zombie comedy is a lot more stupid and a lot less funny than I remember it? Absolutely.

All of those things may be true, and yet I’m still excited for the sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap, which comes out in theaters this Friday. It’s ten years later, and all of the original cast is back: Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, the tough-as-nails zombie killer who delights in murdering the invaders in creative ways; Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, the anxious nerd who has to toughen up to survive; Emma Stone as Wichita and Abigail Breslin as Little Rock, the sisters and con artists who are only looking out for each other.

As the trailer for Zombieland 2 reminds us, everyone single one of these actors is now an Oscar nominee (and in Stone’s case, an Oscar winner), which makes the fact that the four of them are back in a dumb comedy slaying zombies even more delightful. Both the original Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer and writers Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and David Callaham are back as well, so all the ingredients for a repeat success are there.

IS ZOMBIELAND ON NETFLIX?

If you’re reading this before November 1, 2019, then no, Zombieland is not on Netflix. But sit tight, because the film is headed back to the streaming service on November 1. In the meantime, Netflix suggests watching Scott Pilgrim vs. the World instead, which, I have to admit, is a pretty good alternative for Zombieland. Michael Cera, Jesse Eisenberg… same difference, really.

IS ZOMBIELAND ON HULU?

Zombieland is not available to stream for regular Hulu subscribers. However, it is available to subscribers who pay for Hulu Live TV. If you haven’t used up your free trial yet, now might be the time to do so.
