'Haunted' on Netflix: The 3 Scariest Episodes Ever
It’s October and that means it’s time for another round of Netflix’s Haunted! The half-hour horror series is back for Season 2, giving us six more terrifying true tales that will make your pulse race and spine tingle. Don’t got time for a full blown horror feature? Put on a Haunted installment and you’ll be freaking out in no time flat.
Each episode focuses on one story, as someone that’s survived a traumatic encounter with the supernatural recounts their experience to their loved ones. Now, whether or not you believe the show when it claims all these stories are true, that’s up to you. I will say that one episode, Season 2’s “Cult of Torture,” is unquestionably, upsettingly real.
You shouldn’t let the fact that there are 12 chapters on Netflix intimidate you, either. You could put on pretty much any episode and get the jumps you’re looking for. And since every episode is self-contained, you can watch them in any order and at any time. But if you want to get to the creepiest episodes first, look no further than these scary stories. "The Woman in White"
Haunted grabbed viewers right out of the gate with this one. The first episode of the series focuses on a middle-aged man who grew up in an apartment with a deadly reputation and a couple of ghastly presences. Every kid was scared of their closet, but Jason Hawkins had real reason to be. Trust me, you’ve never heard a phrase as chilling as “This became our nightly routine.”
"The Slaughterhouse"
Whereas nearly every other episode of Haunted deals with something supernatural, be it a ghost or a demon or an alien, “The Slaughterhouse” is so grounded in reality that it made viewers super uncomfortable last October. In this one, two sisters recount their childhood growing up as the children of a prolific, sadistic, satanic serial killer who presumably left the woods of upstate New York littered with corpses. This one was so shocking that the production team supposedly got the police involved after hearing this story.
"The Mimic"
Season 2 delivers the goods when it comes to scares, especially if killer clowns and demonic possession push you over the edge. But the scariest episode of Season 2 has to be the premiere episode, a true WTF story featuring a demon-spirit-monster thing unlike any we’ve seen on Haunted. There’s something in the basement of this old house that knows the tenants inside and out, enough to impersonate them vocally and—in a gross out moment—physically.
