‘The View’s Abby Huntsman Slams “Clueless” Hillary Clinton for Tulsi Gabbard-Russia Comments

Abby Huntsman is usually relatively quiet on The View, but she came out swinging this morning during a discussion about Hillary Clinton and Tulsi Gabbard. Huntsman was quick to slam Clinton for suggesting that the Russians are “grooming” Gabbard to run as a third-party candidate in 2020, asking, “How can you be this clueless?” The conservative co-host added that Clinton’s remarks made it sound “like she has still an axe to grind” after the 2016 election, and she said that her comments “give the Russians exactly what they want” by dividing Democrats. Huntsman’s co-hosts pushed back, but she remained firm, insisting, “It really surprised me that Hillary Clinton wasn’t smarter, more tactful.”

As they often do, Huntsman, a former Fox News host, and her co-hosts found themselves on opposite sides of the Clinton-Gabbard debate on Monday morning. Left-leaning hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar praised Clinton’s remarks — originally made Friday on former Obama adviser David Plouffe’s podcast — with Hostin explaining that “Hillary’s been dead-on with so many things,” including Russian interference in the 2016 election. “I thought, where’s the lie?” she asked, citing Gabbard’s continued presence in the race despite her low poll numbers. “She’s endorsed by the Russians … There have been about 20 Russian bot websites that have supported her.”

Behar agreed with Hostin. “Hillary was right about almost everything,” said the veteran View host. “I don’t say that Tulsi is an agent. I just think that she could be a useful idiot the way Trump is a useful idiot to the Russians.”

Huntsman pushed back, saying that she read the situation “completely differently” than her co-hosts (shocker). “She sounded like she has still an axe to grind in 2016,” said the conservative co-host. “But if you have played the political game for so many years, how can you be this clueless?” Huntsman added that Clinton’s comments “give the Russians exactly what they want,” as “they want the Democratic party to be divided.”

“It really surprised me that Hillary Clinton wasn’t smarter, more tactful in the way she talked about it,” continued Huntsman. “Frankly, if you’re a Democrat, I think Tulsi has a lot to like.” When Hostin pointed out that “no Democrat really likes [Gabbard]” because she’s “polling at 1.2%,” Huntsman doubled down. “I think she adds something unique to the party,” she said. “The Democrats, in my opinion, what I think they’re missing is where a lot of the middle of the country is … She’s attracting people that you need that might vote for Trump that would go to her.”It really surprised me that Hillary Clinton wasn’t smarter, more tactful.”

But Huntsman didn’t stop there. “Tulsi Gabbard may now go straight to the convention,” she concluded. “I just think Hillary Clinton, be a little bit smarter. If you are going to throw stones from the sidelines — which I hate — then be a little more tactful about it when you speak. Because you’re only hurting your own party by doing that.”
