Eddie Murphy and Netflix will deliver a history lesson this week with Dolemite Is My Name, a new Netflix original movie about comedian and actor Rudy Ray Moore. Moore is best known for his 1975 blaxploitation film, Dolemite. Dolemite Is My Name—directed by Craig Brewer and written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewsk —tells the story of Moore’s hard-fought battle to get his film made.

Murphy stars Moore, an aging, charismatic entertainer who never made it big, but is determined to change that. Keegan-Michael Key plays Jerry Jones, the serious, intellectual man who penned the Dolemite screenplay. Wesley Snipes, in his first major role since Blade II, stars as actor D’Urville Martin, who agreed to come on as the film’s director though he was already an established actor at the time. If the triumphant return of Murphy and Snipes weren’t enough, the supporting cast includes Da’Vine Joy Randolph Mike Epps, Craig Robinson, Tituss Burgess, Snoop Dogg, T.I., and Chris Rock.

With a cast like that, it’s hard to imagine the film won’t be a win for Netflix, but there’s also the fact that Dolemite Is My Name is getting rave reviews. The film currently holds a 98 percent on the review aggregation website, Rotten Tomatoes. But when will you finally be able to watch this highly-anticipated movie?
