Netflix is gearing up for cuffing season with the first trailer for Let It Snow, which you can watch above. Jacob Batalon, Isabela Merced, Shameik Moore, Kiernan Shipka, Odeya Rush and more star in this film adaptation of the bestselling 2008 novel from authors John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle.
For those who haven’t read the book, Let It Snow, the novel, is essentially three holiday-themed romantic YA short stories that eventually intertwine together. The first story, written by Johnson, is about a young girl named Jubilee (Merced) whose train breaks down in a snowstorm. Luckily, she meets a cute boy named Stuart (Moore) who helps her brave the cold. The second story, written by Green, follows a boy named Tobin and his two friends, the Duke and JP, who realizes—after a wild night at the Waffle House—he wants to be more than friends with the Duke. The third story, written by Myracle is about a girl named Addie, her boyfriend Jeb, and a teacup pig. (It’s a long story.)
Based on this trailer, it looks like screenwriters Laura Solon, Victoria Strouse, and Kay Kannon, along with director Luke Snellin, have made a few changes to the book, and possibly introduced a queer relationship, which is exciting. That Cannon, who wrote both Pitch Perfect and Blockers, had a hand in the script is also promising. Plus, that cast is all teen favorites—you’ve got Shipka from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Rush from Goosebumps, Moore from Into the Spider-verse, Batalon from Spider-Man: Homecoming, Hope from Descendants, and more. Miles Robbins, Liv Hewson, Anna Akana, and Joan Cusack also appear in the film.
It’s been a good year for John Green fans. The Fault in Our Stars author’s first novel, Looking for Alaska, was recently adapted as a series for Hulu. Let It Snow certainly looks like the perfect Netflix movie to watch in pajamas with a cup of hot cocoa, and we can’t wait!
Let It Snow is coming to Netflix on November 8.
