Craving something grotesque and funny this Halloween season? Then Netflix’s new comedy Daybreak is the vulgar cure the doctor ordered. But if you’re at the end of this post-apocalyptic dose of insanity, you might be wondering will there be a Daybreak Season 2?

Created by Brad Peyton and Aron Eli Coleite and based on the comic series by Brian Ralph, Daybreak takes place in a world where a biochemical nuclear attack has destroyed the world. All of the teens and kids are fine, but adults have been transformed into mindless cannibals. Well, most of them. In the middle of all this madness, high schooler Josh (Colin Ford) vows to find his missing love interest Sam (Sophie Simnett).

Filled with giant mutated pugs, 10-year-old geniuses, and cults run by football players, band nerds, and cheerleaders, it’s a series as insane as it sounds. And it’s well worth your time. Here’s everything you need to know about Daybreak Season 2.

Will There Be a Daybreak Season 2?

At the moment Netflix hasn’t announced any plans for a second season. But there’s certainly enough plot for more episodes. Typically Netflix waits about a month to announce season renewals for new shows. Since Daybreak only premiered on October 24, we still have time to hear about a Season 2.

When Will Daybreak Season 2 Premiere?

If there is a second season, we can likely expect it within a year. Principal photography for Season 1 lasted from October 2018 to August 2019. Based on that timeline and assuming that Daybreak will be renewed for a second season, new episodes may premiere in fall of 2020.

Does Josh Ever Find Sam in Daybreak?

You bet he does. After losing an ally and his finger, Josh reunites with the supposed love of his life Sam (Colin Ford) in Daybreak’s final episode. Most of “FWASH-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!” follows Josh and Sam (Sophie Simnett) as they confront their now cannibalistic principal Baron Triumph (Matthew Broderick) and try to save the world. As is always the case with this show, it doesn’t exactly go as planned.

What Could Happen in Daybreak Season 2? Here’s Daybreak‘s Ending Explained

Let’s start with the easy questions. At the end of Daybreak‘s first season Josh and his friends did find Sam, and they did take down Baron Triumph. After a couple of rousing speeches Josh and Sam confronted The Jocks with an army of their own, completely made of Ghoulies. As for the Jocks’ educated leader, Josh stabbed Triumph with a sword coated in the former educator’s deadliest foe: peanut butter. Check and mate.

But that didn’t mean Triumph’s reign of terror was over quite yet as there was still a deadly missile to worry about. Ms. Crumble (Krysta Rodriguez) volunteered to manually send the missile into the stratosphere, essentially sacrificing her life. After a heart-breaking goodbye scene, Ms. Crumble emerged unscathed and reunited with her surrogate daughter figure Angelica (Alyvia Alyn Lind). Even in Daybreak’s final episode, no one knows what Ms. Crumble is. That just means they’re going to have to figure it out.

It was a bright and happy ending — too happy. In Daybreak‘s final moments Josh pledged his love to Sam, which she brushed aside. Turns out she doesn’t believe he’s in love with her at all but instead in love with the idea of a damsel in distress. And as Sam knows from her viral video, she is anything but a damsel.

At the end of the episode, Sam ascends what was once Turbo’s throne and declares herself leader of these people. Naturally Mona Lisa (Jeanté Godlock), Turbo’s former second-in-command, stands right by her side. She knows power when she sees it. “The apocalypse wasn’t the best thing to happen to you Josh. It was the best thing to happen to me,” Sam says ominously as everyone but Josh and his crew bows before her.

If there is a second season we’d bet anything the newly power-hungry Sam would be our big foe. And honestly it’s everything we could want. Sam and Mona Lisa teaming up to rule over everything and put the insufferably arrogant Josh in his place? Yes, please. Crush the world, ladies.
