Indie movie lovers, get ready to meet your soulmate. Every month, streaming service Magnolia Selects releases a new line-up of dramas, foreign language films, and moving documentaries, and in December, they’re kicking things up a notch. For the low price of $4.99/month, Magnolia Selects customers have access to a wide library of Magnolia Pictures films, including Melancholia, Double, and more.
Next month, Magnolia Selects is adding another slate of underappreciated films featuring big-time stars. Has the holiday season put you in a Meg Ryan mood? Check out Serious Moonlight, a dark comedy starring Ryan as an attorney who discovers that her husband is about to leave her for a younger woman (the inimitable Kristen Bell). If you’d prefer something a little more romantic — not that break-ins and hostage situations aren’t romantic, but you know — stream I Give It a Year, from Borat co-writer Dan Mazer. The British rom-com follows a newly-married couple (Rose Byrne and Rafe Spall) as they navigate the ups and downs of their first year of marriage. With supporting turns from Anna Faris, Simon Baker, and Olivia Colman, the romantic comedy is perfect for a wintertime movie night.
