Twitter Loved ‘Jeopardy’s Jeff Goldblum Category: “Thank You For Giving Us That Gift”

Jeopardy is all about the corporate synergy these days. On Thursday night, the iconic quiz show handed over an entire category to actor Jeff Goldblum in an attempt to promote his new Disney+ series, The Life According to Jeff Goldblum. While some of the clues were a little bizarre, Jeopardy viewers didn’t seem to mind: fans praised the stunt as “hysterical” and “amazing.” But that being said, maybe he could pick up his clue-reading pace next time?

Thursday’s Jeopardy contestants avoided “The World According to Jeff Goldblum” category until the last possible second, but it finally came time to hit it, viewers were in for a treat. Each clue featured a video message from Goldblum, who read off questions about different episodes of his show. “When it comes to videos of unboxing — sneakers, for example — I found that it’s all about anticipation and the release of this neurotransmitter that gives us a rush of happiness — even when the shoes aren’t necessarily for us,” he said (very slowly) in one clue, with the correct answer being, “What is dopamine?”

Another clue featured a clip of The World According to Jeff Goldblum‘s Ben and Jerry’s episode. “Vermont’s favorite ice cream is extra flavorful because cofounder Ben Cohen suffers from anosmia, or lack of this sense that relates to taste,” read the actor and musician. “Partner Jerry Greenfield would add flavoring until Ben could appreciate new creations.” The answer was, “What is a sense of smell?”

Jeopardy viewers were quick to praise Goldblum’s brief cameo. “The Jeff Goldblum category on Jeopardy is everything I wanted it to be and more,” tweeted one fan. “The Jeff Goldblum category on Jeopardy just made my whole freaking week!” added another.

But fans did have one criticism about Goldblum’s Jeopardy appearance: he read too damn slow. “Jeff Goldblum speaks as if there is a comma after every word,” tweeted one viewer. “By the time Jeff Goldblum finishes reading a question, I forgot how it started,” said another user. They’re not wrong, but perhaps that’s Jeopardy‘s fault: the clues *were* twice as long as normal.
