Meghan McCain Laments That “P.C. Culture Has Killed What’s Fun About Christmas”

Baby, it’s cold on The View. On Monday morning, the panel welcomed the holidays with a Hot Topics discussion about office-wide Secret Santa games, but Meghan McCain wasn’t feeling the holiday spirit. The conservative firebrand insisted that while she doesn’t like “forced group crap” that requires her to run “an errand,” she’s even more upset that “P.C. culture has killed what’s fun about Christmas.” Said McCain, “People are stopping doing Christmas parties because they’re worried that someone’s going to do something and go to HR.”

This morning, The View went all-in on the holidays with a new set and some festive Hot Topics. With holiday party season in full swing, the women discussed games like Secret Santa or White Elephant, which some feel cause anxiety during an already-stressful time of year. “Just relax. It’s okay. You’re supposed to have fun!” said moderator Whoopi Goldberg. The panel agreed and stressed the importance of “gifts that just keep on giving.” Explained Abby Huntsman, “Alcohol is always a good way to go.”

The discussion then turned to office holiday parties and the expectations for employees. “I don’t like forced fun. Like, forced group crap,” said McCain. “You’ve got to go do an errand, get a gift for someone I don’t really know that well.”

“But also, P.C. culture has killed what’s fun about Christmas,” continued McCain. “Like, people are stopping doing Christmas parties because they’re worried that someone’s going to do something and go to HR, and there’s going to be some scandal.”

“Or play ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside.’ Oh no!” joked Abby Huntsman. “Exactly!” laughed McCain. I’m guessing they’re not fans of John Legend’s woke version of the Christmas classic?

After some more back and forth, it was Whoopi Goldberg who got the final (bizarre) word. “Alcohol content,” she said. “If you check how much alcohol you’re drinking, you may not have such a tough time.” When McCain insisted that “that’s not a party,” the longtime View moderator insisted that it “will keep you from going to HR.” That’s not really true, but that’s a discussion for another time.

“Or you can just not go to the Christmas party and have a private party with people you trust and no phones like I do,” offered McCain. “That’s right. And you can have all kinds of things. Doesn’t have to be alcohol,” said Goldberg with a smile.
