Mob Wives star Drita D’Avanzo has been arrested in an NYPD raid on her Staten Island home. According to SILive.com, police found weapons and drugs at the house, and she and her husband, alleged Bonanno and Colombo crime family member Lee D’Avanzo, were taken into custody on multiple charges of criminal possession. D’Avanzo starred on all six seasons of Mob Wives, which ran from 2011 to 2016 on VH1, and spent much of the series raising her daughters alone while her husband served time for bank robbery.
SILive.com reports that the NYPD executed a search warrant at the D’Avanzo home at around 6 p.m. on Thursday night. According to a spokesperson, police officers recovered “two loaded firearms, assorted pills, including painkillers and anti-anxiety medications, a large quality of marijuana and a scale,” among other items.
Following the raid, Drita and Lee D’Avanzo were taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, the outlet reports.
From 2011 to 2016, D’Avanzo starred on VH1’s Mob Wives, which followed a group of Staten Island women with ties to organized crime. According to her official Mob Wives bio, the Staten Island native (her family is originally from Albania) “defied her parents” by marrying Lee, an Italian, who “federal prosecutors allege is the leader of a Bonanno and Colombo crime family farm team.” Shortly before Mob Wives began, Lee was sentenced to 2-5 years in prison for bank robbery (his second sentence); he was released from prison and returned home during the show’s six-season run, but refused to appear on camera. The couple have two daughters, Aleeya and Gizelle, both of whom were featured on the show.
