Happy Friday, everyone! This past week has been a doozy, between the freezing temperatures turning our ears blue or that squall that invaded for all of 15 minutes! Either way, we are ready for a break, and so this weekend could not come soon enough. As we have preached before, there is no better way to take a much-needed break than by zoning out to a bunch of movies and shows that are ready at your fingertips. And whether you subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Amazon Prime Video or more, this weekend has you well-stocked for your binge-watching pleasure.
This weekend’s streaming lineup may not be the biggest batch of releases we’ve seen, however we have learned quality over quantity. After much buzz and anticipation, the new Netflix series The Witcher is now available to watch in full. Starring Henry Cavill, The Witcher is a fantasy drama show about three separate-but-connected characters whose destinies are intertwined after one fateful meeting. If you are in the mood for more historical fiction, check out The Two Popes, a very interesting film about what could have happened when Pope Benedict transferred the Church to the now-Pope Francis.
Once you’ve finished watching the entire first season of The Witcher and had your fill of popes, head over to Prime Video to watch The Aeronauts. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are teaming up again for this adventure movie inspired by the true adventures of 1800s meteorologist James Glaisher.

The Witcher: Season 1
Get ready to fall in love with a new series, folks, because The Witcher is officially out this weekend! Starring Henry Cavill, this new drama centers on Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, who struggles to find a place in The Continent: a fantastical world where the humans are usually more twisted than the beasts. Also starring Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders) as runaway princess Ciri and Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds) as the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg, this series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s best-selling book series of the same name follows these three separate-but-intertwined characters through danger, adventure and even love. We cannot wait to get addicted to The Witcher.

The Two Popes
Two Popes is the historical fiction drama about the relationship between two of the holiest men of our lifetime: Pope Benedict XVI and the soon-to-be Pope Francis. Set in 2013, this film follows the historic transition of responsibility between Pope Benedict stepping down and Pope Francis assuming his vacant role. Two Popes postulates how these two very different men must have put aside their differences and views on the world in order to work together and preserve the Church. Starring Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce, Two Popes is not only an insightful film, but it also creates a bromance we never expected to stan!

The Aeronauts
Based on a true adventure, The Aeronauts tells the true story of James Glaisher: a scientist and aeronaut who made record-breaking trips into the air to record the temperature and humidity at the highest heights possible. Starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, this adventure film follows Glaisher and hot air balloon pilot Amelia Rennes, respectively, as they embark on a hot-air-balloon journey to fly to the highest recorded height in history. But the higher they climb the higher the risk, and soon this unlikely pair has to turn to each other to ensure their survival… and glory.
