New Movies on Demand: ‘Gemini Man,’ ‘Zombieland: Double Tap,’ ‘Addams Family,’ and More

Congratulations, people, you survived Christmas. You’ve unwrapped all your presents and feigned excitement to your expectant family until your face froze with a gargoyle smile, but now you can finally rest. What better way to relax with your family by the fire than by popping on a movie of your choice? And whether you use Amazon Video, iTunes, Vudu or your cable’s on demand service, there are new titles out now that will keep you and your loved ones entertained this holiday weekend.

There may not be a ton of new movies out for you to explore, but the ones that have just been released prove quality is better than quantity. Fans of the 2009 Zombieland movie — or just zombie-slaying fans in general — can rejoice now that Zombieland: Double Tap is now available to purchase on demand. And if you are in a more Halloween-ie mood, then be sure to check out the latest version of The Addams Family, now in animated form. If you thought the live-action antics Gomez, Cousin It and Wednesday Addams were crazy, animation has enabled the genius creators to think even further outside the box! Finally, for those action/drama aficionados, there is Gemini Man: the thriller film about a master assassin who is sent on a mission to kill a mysterious terrorist. But when the two come face-to-face, Henry Brogan realizes that he has been hired to kill himself, or a cloned version of himself from years ago. Creepy, right? And if you are noncommital like my friend Denise (yes, I am calling you out here, Denise!), then no worries because Judy is now available to rent.

Curious about what else is out there? Check out what other musicals, comedies and thrillers you can buy or rent this week.

Jexi

Does anyone else’s Siri feature sometime act a little wonky? Well in comparison to Jexi, Siri is the robot butler of your dreams. Starring Adam Devine, Jexi is a comedy film about a young man whose new smartphone is not just smart, but smart-alecky. The emotionally-aware phone becomes attached to her bumbling owner, helping him improve many aspects of his life; but when Jexi becomes jealous of Phil’s budding relationship with a girl, she uses her powers to destroy his life. It is a battle of man vs. phone, the showdown that we as a society have been fighting for ages.
