Will There Be a Messiah Season 2 on Netflix?

At the moment it’s unknown if there will be a Season 2 of Messiah. But there’s still hope of that changing. Typically Netflix waits a month and some change before announcing series renewals. Since Messiah just premiered on January 1, we have loads of time to wait for an announcement.

When Will Messiah Season 2 Premiere?

Assuming that Netflix does renew this religious thriller, we likely won’t have to wait too long to see new episodes. Principal photography for Messiah Season 1 started in June of 2018 before the series premiered in January of 2020. If that timeline is consistent with the production schedule for Season 2, we can likely expect new episodes to premiere in summer or fall of 2021.

How Many Episodes of Messiah Are There?

At the moment we only know the episode count for Messiah‘s first season. That first installment is composed of 10 episodes. Season 2 will likely be similar.

Messiah on Netflix’s Ending: What Happened?

All of Messiah‘s first season has grappled with the same question: Is Al-Masih, A.K.A. Payam Golshiri (Mehdi Dehbi) actually Jesus Christ or is he a very good conman? Though “The Wages of Sin” never explicitly answers that query one way or another, it does confirm that Al-Masih probably does have supernatural powers. And he’s not the only one.

This first season saw Al-Masih and former Mossad agent Aviram Dahan (Tomer Sisley) in a plane accident that should have killed them. Instead they both landed unharmed in a field of flowers. When asked what happened, a shepherd claimed that Al-Masih resurrected Aviram. This shocking survival from what should be a fatal accident is repeated again when Al-Masih’s disciple Jibril Medina (Sayyid El Alami) survives the blast from a suicide bomb.

Is Messiah building toward a confrontation between the Second Coming of Christ and the Antichrist? Or are these just two super-powered conmen with more secrets than we can imagine? Here’s hoping we get a Season 2 to figure out who we can trust.
