More From Decider

The 20 Most Anticipated TV Shows of 2020: ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Season 6, ‘Outlander’ Season 5, ‘Little Fires Everywhere,’ and More

2019 gave us something like a million and forty-three new television shows to chow down on, and 2020 isn’t going to stop. Between the upcoming launch of HBO Max, the continuing growth of Netflix’s original library, and the ongoing star-studded offerings of channels like FX and streaming services like Disney+, we’re about to get even more TV in 2020.

The good news is a lot of those titles look incredible. We’re talking the returns of our favorite series, long-anticipated adaptations, and more celebrity-packed casts than we know what to do with. Universally beloved sitcom Schitt’s Creek comes back for its sixth and final season next week, Star Trek fave Jean-Luc Picard makes his return to Starfleet on January 23rd, and Netflix’s calendar is chock full of splashy new debuts like Cursed, Bridgerton, and Selena: The Series. As you’ll see, 2020’s TV slate is full of lavish sci-fi adventures, soapy romances, and spine-tingling horror.

While it’s by no means an exhaustive list of every big show hitting television and streaming this year, these are the 20 shows we’re most pumped for in 2020. Please note that production schedules are subject to change, and it’s possible that some of these titles could be shifted to 2021. Nevertheless, these are the 20 shows we’re most certain TV fans are going to be obsessing over in 2020.

Here are the 20 most anticipated shows of 2020…

The success of 13 Reasons Why was arguably thanks to the gripping performance of a young actress named Katherine Langford, so it should as no surprise that Netflix was quick to sign Langford up to her own star vehicle. Coming to: Disney+

Release Date: 2020

Disney+ launched in November with the first-ever live action Star Wars series, and in 2020, Marvel will follow suit. Sure, we’ve seen Marvel television shows before, but The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be the first live action series directly produced by MCU titan Kevin Feige’s team. That means you can expect a higher level of production value and storylines that explicitly tie into the saga of the films. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Captain America’s two best friends Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) have to team up to face down the return of the villainous Baron Zemo (Daniel Bruhl) and the rise of a new super soldier, US Agent (Wyatt Russell).

When Succession Season 3 returns in 2020, the Roys will have to contend with a new king in their midst, and we’ll happily follow him into the crazy drama bound to lie ahead.

The powers that be at Marvel and Disney+ gave us something of a surprise over the holidays. WandaVision, the upcoming MCU series that lets Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch live out a dream world where she and her lost love Vision (Paul Bettany) live in a 1950s sitcom, will hit Disney+ in 2020. This is earlier than the original 2021 release date, but we still don’t expect to be binging it until the end of the year.

'Bridgerton'

Coming to: Netflix

Release Date: 2020

Shonda Rhimes is one of the biggest showrunners that Netflix has lured to its roster, and Bridgerton is set to be her big splashy debut on the streaming service. Set in the early 1800s, Bridgerton is a tongue-in-cheek look at the soapy lives of society’s elite.
