Woman Crush Wednesday: Erinn Hayes Will Save Your Life

Happy Woman Crush Wednesday! Today we’re celebrating a woman so talented, she is playing a cop and a doctor… at the same time. She’s talented, she’s hilarious, she’s lovely; she’s Erinn Hayes!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Erinn Hayes

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: For all those you loved Hayes’s work at death-faking doctor Lola Spratt in Adult Swim black sitcom Childrens Hospital, you’re in luck! Lola is back and better than ever alongside her ex-boyfriend, Dr. Owen Maestro (Rob Huebel), in new Netflix comedy, Medical Police, which drops on the platform this Friday, January 10th. Lola and Owen discover a civilization-threatening virus and are subsequently recruited as government agents in a race against time and around the world to stop the virus and uncover a dark conspiracy. Netflix released an official trailer for the show on December 19th, and if it is any good indication of what is to come, Hayes is going to be crushing it (and possibly herself? Please be careful!) and cracking us up in this wild new show.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Hayes began her on-screen career in 2001 with small roles in horror film Final Stab and medical drama TV show Providence. From there, her career took off as she landed guest roles on some of the most popular shows in the past two decades, including The West WingFamily GuyGrey’s AnatomyParks and Recreation, and New Girl. Hayes had a recurring role in NBC comedy-drama Parenthood, and main roles in NBC sitcom Guys With Kids, CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait, and Netflix comedy series Huge in France.

Not only has she dominated the television world, but she’s made a splash on the big screen, too, most notably in comedies The WatchThey Came Together, and Band Aid. However, the role for which Hayes is most known (and who she will be playing again in Medical Police) is Dr. Lola Spratt in Childrens Hospital. She portrayed Lola from 2008 to 2016 and was even nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series in 2016 for her work in Childrens Hospital‘s final season.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Hayes will continue tearing it up this year with three projects set to come out in 2020 on the big screen. She will be playing Patricia in comedy Witness Infection, in which two rival mob families are transferred from Witness Protection Agency to the same city by mistake, as well as Marnie in comedy Holly Slept Over, about relationship struggles of a married couple attempting to conceive in the midst of friendship troubles and an old college roommate staying over for a weekend and creating tension. Hayes’s biggest role of the year may be her portrayal of Princess Elizabeth Logan, Ted Logan’s (Keanu Reeves) wife, in Bill & Ted Face the Music, the third film of the cult classic sci-fi comedy Bill & Ted film franchise, which is set to be released on August 21st. When you’re playing a medical policewoman, a mobster, and a princess (you know, the classic trifecta), you know you’re having a pretty good year; We can’t wait to see what Hayes does next!
