When Will Netflix Release the Final Season of ‘Grace and Frankie’?

The start of a new year means many things, including the release of a new season of Grace and Frankie. The beloved Netflix comedy has been there for us in the cold weeks of January for the last few years, and 2020 is no different. But things are about to change, because this is the penultimate season of Grace and Frankie!

Netflix’s flagship comedy series will come to a close with the release of Season 7, but we knew that going into Season 6. Thank you, Netflix, for giving all of us plenty of time to come to terms with the conclusion of this series! So, what do we know about Season 7? When will the final season of Grace and Frankie land on Netflix? What crazy antics will the Hanson and Bergstein families get up to in their final batch of episodes? Here’s what we know so far.

Does Grace and Frankie Season 6 end on a cliffhanger?

You bet it does! The season finale sets up Grace and Frankie’s final season, and it’s gonna be a doozy. Grace and Frankie made up after their Shark Tank blow-up (Grace passed on an offer from Mark Cuban because of Nick), which left Grace seriously considering a split from Nick. But before she could talk to him, the FBI showed up and arrested Grace’s husband for securities fraud and tax evasion. He did leave one gift for Grace, though: a couch stuffed with enough money to fund the Rise Up toilet.

Grace’s daughters Brianna and Mallory also went through a few major changes. After getting dumped by Barry over her resistance to commitment, Brianna proposed that they get engaged… forever. Barry happily accepted, and now they’re perma-fiancés. And After Brianna passed on the job in San Francisco that threatened her relationship with Barry, Mallory stepped in and claimed it for herself. Now Mallory will be Brianna’s supervisor!

The biggest twist of all, however, involves Robert and Sol. After finding out that Robert blew a bunch of money to save the community theater without consulting Sol, Sol went out and blew even more of their money on a motorcycle. The two made up, but then their Rise Up toilet went haywire and flooded their house. Faced with extensive repairs and unable to afford a stay anywhere else, Robert and Sol are moving back into their beach house with–dramatic pause–Grace and Frankie!

When will Grace and Frankie Season 7 come out on Netflix?

Netflix has already announced that Grace and Frankie is coming back for a seventh and final season, but they haven’t announced when. We also know that the final season will consist of 16 episodes, three more than any previous season of the show. That’ll make it the longest-running Netflix original of all time when it concludes in 2021.

As for when it will come out, it’s likely it’ll come out a year from now. Seasons 4, 5, and 6 all debuted in January, so it would make sense for Season 7 to drop in January 2021. Of course the three extra episodes could push back the release a little bit, maybe, but we don’t know that for sure. It’s safe to assume that you’ll get the conclusion to the saga of Grace and Frankie in early 2021.
