‘Love Island’ Season 6 Will Keep You Warm And Toasty In The Winter

For five whole seasons now we’ve associated bikinis and Iain Stirling’s voice and the declaration of “I’ve got a text!” with the summertime. But why? Because already, with only three episodes of Love Island Season 6 added to Hulu in America, the show’s first winter edition, it’s clear that this is the perfect winter show.

Look, will I continue to stay inside on a beautiful summer weekend watching multiple episodes of Love Island when June rolls around this year? Yes, you already know I will, of course. But there’s something exciting, and almost dangerous, about having a brand new season rolling out when it’s freezing and snowy and just plain unpleasant outside. For one, it’s making me want to book a trip somewhere tropical (yes, where I will likely stay inside the hotel watching this show, don’t judge me). But I feel even less guilty staying in to watch several episodes in a row (which we all know is the best way to watch this show). And it really helps what I have been calling the Love Island Diet which is where I allow myself to only watch this show from the elliptical at the gym. Now that’s motivation!

So far I am enjoying the fact that a new season of this show also brings so many new elements. New location in South Africa. New HUGE “villa” or house where the Islanders are staying. Three levels! And a new host, Laura Whitmore, who is filling in for Caroline Flack as she sorts out her personal matters after getting arrested in December. It’s clear Laura has watched the show (her boyfriend is Stirling who has already made a joke about their relationship at his expense, and tbh, I’m here for more of it because I love them both). While she seems a bit softer than Flack, she’s doing her best to fill those heels. She’s not doing an impression, she’s making the task her own and knowing when to press the Islanders on why they didn’t step forward, without overcompensating either. It’s not the same without Flack, but it’s also refreshing in a new way.

Another bonus about this season is that in the US, we’re getting a new episode each day on Hulu, about eight days behind when they air in the UK, which is the shortest amount of time between the broadcast dates yet. We’ve never known the joy that is voting in the UK version, but at least we won’t feel so far behind what our pals across the pond are watching. And hopefully this means we’re inching towards same-day broadcasting when the new season launches in the summer. Hulu, what do ya say?

Love Island Season 6 is different in some ways but remains great in many. Sexy singles are still competing to win love (and also 50 thousand pounds), and even though we might be wearing more layers as we watch this time around, it’s more than just a season that will hold us over until the regularly scheduled programming returns in June. There should be two seasons of Love Island per year. Why not? If you have yet to make the leap into this reality series, start now. It’s winter, we all know you don’t have much else to do.
