Taylor Swift Stops Being a Nice Girl in ‘Taylor Swift: Miss Americana’ Trailer: “It Feels F*cking Awesome”

The trailer for the Netflix Taylor Swift documentary, Taylor Swift: Miss Americana, is finally here, and it has Swifties everywhere saying, “Oh my god it’s happening! OK! Oh god!”

Taylor Swift: Miss Americana premieres at Sundance Film Festival tomorrow and will release on Netflix and in select theaters on January 31. Directed by Lana Wilson, who won an Emmy for her 2013 doc After Tiller, it’s an in-depth look at the mega popstar on her Reputation tour and more.

In the trailer, which you can watch above, we get a glimpse of Swift’s tour life. This includes sparkly costumes, sitting on hotel room floors, hugging her boyfriend Joe Alwyn, taking selfies, and carrying her cat in the cutest and most glamorous cat carrier I have ever seen in my life.

We also hear some voice-over narration from Swift herself, in which she alludes to her recent confrontation with her former record label owners, Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, in her battle to gain back the rights to her older songs.

“Throughout my whole career, label executives would just say: A nice girl doesn’t force her opinions on people,” we hear Swift say in voiceover in the trailer. “A nice girl smiles and waves and says thank you. I became the person everyone wanted me to be.”

The trailer also touches on Swift’s image in pop culture. Whether it’s positive or negative, everyone has an opinion on Taylor Swift. You might say she has something of a reputation. (Sorry.) But Swift rose above it.

“It was happiness without anyone else’s input,” Swift says in the trailer. “And it feels fucking awesome.” Heck yeah. You tell em, Taylor.

Be sure to stay tuned for Decider’s review of Taylor Swift: Miss Americana tomorrow from Sundance for all the intel.

Taylor Swift: Miss Americana will play in select theaters and on Netflix on January 31.
