Ford v Ferrari

Ford v Ferrari is the sports drama film about the historic rivalry between Ford Motor Company and Ferrari that came to a head at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans in France. Starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, it follows two determined men — American car designer Carroll Shelby and British-born driver Ken Miles — who must build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company with the hopes that it will finally defeat the perennially-dominant Ferrari racing team at the Le Mans. But in order to beat the battle of the races, they first must beat some battles with the laws of nature, and themselves. Not only did it get four Oscar nominations including “Best Picture,” but it also won a spot on Barack Obama’s 2019 movie list, too!

Coda

Patrick Stewart and Katie Holmes star in Coda, a compelling drama about the unexpected relationship between a famous pianist and a free-spirited music critic. Ever since famous pianist Henry Cole (Stewart) lost his wife, he isolated himself in grief and seldom touched a piano key, leading him to develop performance anxiety and sometimes-debilitating stage fright. However, that all changes when “New Yorker” writer Helen Morrison (Holmes) befriends Cole while doing a story on him and gives the struggling artist the passion and confidence he lost long ago. Coda is now available for rent and purchase on demand.

The Farewell

Awkwafina puts on a Golden Globe-winning performance in The Farewell, a soft dramedy that packs a big emotional punch. Inspired by director Lulu Wang’s own family story, The Farewell follows a Chinese family that returns to China to say goodbye to their matriarch, who has contracted terminal cancer. The twist? She has no idea she is even sick, and the family has decided to fake a family wedding to say goodbye whilst keeping the illness from her. The power of the film is found in the tense moments between the family members whose cultural differences have made the decision to keep the cancer a secret unbearable to take. Poignant, insightful and hella emotional, The Farewell is now available to rent on iTunes for just $0.99, so take advantage while you can!
