All the Bright Places

Friday, you couldn’t have come at a better time. Not only is it the end of the week, but it is also the end of the month! Oh, wait, hold up: we actually have an extra day. Happy (almost) Leap Day everyone! Now that we have an extra day in the month, it is time to decide how to spend it. Unlike others who may go out and freeze themselves on the last day of February, we here at Decider are choosing to spend it resting, relaxing, acting all cool while we binge-watch movies and tv shows all weekend. And whether you prefer to use Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, or HBO, there are a ton of movies and shows coming out to keep you entertained all weekend long.

This weekend also marks the beginning of a new month, so all of your streaming services are putting out a variety of fantastic titles for you to peruse, especially Netflix! First up, the German crime drama series Babylon Berlin is back for a third season. Now fully enmeshed in the late-Weimar Republic era, Season 3 will interact more with how our favorite police investigator – flapper duo handles crime and their personal demons alongside the rise of Hitler. And if you are in the mood for lighter fare, be sure to check out All the Bright Places, the touching young adult romantic comedy film that explores mental health and how it impacts relationships. But the list does not stop there, as the new month is also welcoming in big titles including He’s Just Not That Into You, The Shawshank Redemption, Tootsie and more.

But Netflix is not the only streaming service dishing out the goods this weekend. On Hulu you can catch Charlotte’s Web, Kung Fu Panda is available on Prime Video, and HBO is coming out with not one, but two movies this weekend: Anna and the classic action-romance film Mr. & Mrs. Smith starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Babylon Berlin: Season 3

The highly-acclaimed German series is back for another season of vice, drama and crime. Babylon Berlin Season 3 picks back up in Weimar Republic-era Berlin with police inspector Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch) and aspiring inspector-slash-flapper Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries). While continuing to bring down various criminal enterprises and dealing with their personal demons, this season we will find the dynamic duo also grappling with the rise of the Nazi party and the decay of Germany’s democracy.

All The Bright Places

Elle Fanning and Justice Smith (Pokémon: Detective Pikachu) star in All the Bright Places: the latest young adult romance film from Netflix. Based on Jennifer Niven’s bestselling book, it tells the story of Violet Markey (Elle Fanning) and Theodore Finch (Justice Smith), two teens who connect through a school project and change each other’s lives forever. As Finch tries to help Violet heal from the emotional trauma of her past, he himself finds the strength to face his demons as they both discover that even the smallest of places, the smallest of moments mean something. A touching piece on mental illness and its impact on relationships, All the Bright Places teaches us all that there is light in even the darkest of places.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie star in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the action-comedy film about a married couple who, unbeknownst to them, work as assassins for rivaling organizations. But when the secret of their equal double lives comes out, John and Jane must pull out all the stops to avoid becoming collateral. Brangelina may be donezo, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy the controversial film that got them together!
