You’ll Never Be Able to Unsee Sarah Palin Rapping on ‘The Masked Singer’

If you needed evidence that we’re living in a dystopia, Nick Cannon saying, “Y’all make some noise for Governor Sarah Palin!” is more than enough. On Wednesday night, Sarah Palin shocked the world when she was revealed as The Bear on The Masked Singer. The former VP candidate immediately went viral with her performance of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back,”  a real sentence that I cannot believe I just typed. No one should have to listen to Sarah Palin yell, “You get sprung!” No one.

Last night — immediately after Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson announced that they have tested positive for coronavirus, and right before the NBA suspended the 2019-2020 season — Palin was unmasked as The Bear on The Masked Singer Season 3. For weeks, the multicolored bear has wowed the panel with her eclectic song choices (to put it nicely), but no one correctly guessed her identity. To his credit, Robin Thicke came close when he guessed Tina Fey, who famously played Palin on Saturday Night Live throughout the 2008 election. “I’m getting more funny lady vibes,” he said. “Maybe someone from the SNL family.” Close, but no cigar.

At the end of the show, The Bear’s identity was finally revealed, and Palin (with some help from host Nick Cannon) treated the audience to an encore performance of “Baby Got Back.” Normally, The Masked Singer only gives eliminated contestants a few seconds to perform their final number, but Fox granted Palin a full two minutes, and surprisingly, she hit every single word. Politics aside, it was very impressive.

When all was said and done, panel was (understandably) floored. “Oh my god, what is our show?” asked Nicole Sherzinger. “I’ve seen it all. I’ve literally seen it all,” added Thicke. “I’ve seen everything.”
