Pete Davidson’s ‘Big Time Adolescence’ Hits Hulu a Week Early

For those planning to spend the next few days self-quarantining amid the coronavirus outbreak, Hulu is dishing up a major treat. On Friday, the Disney-owned streaming service announced that Pete Davidson comedy Big Time Adolescence is now available to stream a full week early. Now you only need to fill 46.5 more hours of time this weekend!

This morning, Big Time Adolescence stars Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly posted a video announcing that the buzzed-about comedy would be hitting the platform early. “Hey guys, Big Time Adolescence is now streaming on Hulu!” says Davidson. “That’s sick. Stop watching that murder shit.

As the Saturday Night Live star plugs the comedy, rapper turned actor Machine Gun Kelly silently freaks out, as if to prove that there’s definitely a reason he’s in the video. It couldn’t possibly be that he and Davidson were just hanging out in his (mom’s) basement when Hulu said, “Hey, make this video.” No. Not possible at all.

Big Time Adolescence stars Davidson as Zeke, an unmotivated college dropout who befriends an innocent 16-year-old high school student named Mo (American Vandal‘s Griffin Gluck). As Zeke introduces Mo to his hard-partying, drug-fueled ways — and his friend Nick, played by Machine Gun Kelly — Mo begins slipping in school, and his father (Jon Cryer) becomes concerned that his new best friend might not be that great of an influence.

Davidson and Gluck’s heartfelt comedy has had a longer than average journey to the screen. Big Time Adolescence first debuted at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival to positive reviews — it currently has an 89% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes — and Hulu later paid $4 million to acquire the film. While Sundance acquisitions usually hit streaming in a few months, Davidson’s comedy sat in Hulu’s vault for well over a year, much to fans’ (and my own) disappointment.

Now, 14 months after its Sundance debut, Big Time Adolescence is finally here. What a fun Friday the 13th surprise!

Big Time Adolescence is currently streaming on Hulu and playing in select theaters.
