Here’s When ‘Cats’ Is Coming to Video on Demand

With the world grinding to a halt, there’s a need for at-home entertainment now more than ever. Luckily for all of us that prefer their disasters onscreen and not in real life, there’s a truly spectacular spectacle coming to VOD that might just be the perfect distraction from the world right now: Cats!

Yeah, the mind-bending, heavily-maligned movie adaptation of the equally nuts Broadway musical is coming to your home (if you’ll let it in, that is). Not even a star-studded cast (Judi Dench! Idris Elba! James Corden! Jennifer Hudson!) could save this movie from being an immediately legendary disaster. If you missed the hubbub in theaters, you can now see what all the fuss was about! So how can you watch Cats? Will Cats be on Netflix? And when will the Cats Blu-ray be released? Here’s what you need to know!

When will Cats be released digitally?

Cats will slink onto digital on March 17. You’ll be able to purchase the film at full price on VOD platforms like iTunes, Prime Video, FandangoNow, Google Play, Vudu, and more. You’ll also be able to get a digital copy of the film with the Blu-ray release, although you’ll have to wait a few weeks.

When will Cats be available to rent digitally?

If you just want to sample the madness of Cats, you’ll be able to rent it on VOD starting on April 7.

When will the Cats Blu-ray be released?

Cats dances onto Blu-ray on April 7. This experience will be released in a two different formats: there’s the Blu-ray release (also comes with a DVD and a digital copy) and there’s a DVD release.

When is Cats coming to DVD?

Cats will be released on DVD on April 7. A DVD will also be available for purchase with the Blu-ray, so keep that in mind.

What special features will be included?

All releases of Cats come with featurettes about Andrew Lloyd Webber, the actors’ experience singing live on set, a cast guide, a look at how the cast trained to become more catlike, a 360-degree video of Idris Elba and Taylor Swift learning the “Macavity” number, a spotlight on the dancers and choreographer, and a focus on director Tom Hooper. There’s also a special feature just titled “A Little Magic” so… who knows!

When will Cats be on Netflix?

You’re not going to see Cats on Netflix, at least not anytime soon. Cats is a Universal picture and the studio doesn’t have a deal in place with Netflix to stream new releases. However, you will be able to stream Cats elsewhere…

When will Cats be on HBO?

Cats will most likely end up on HBO, but you’ll have to wait a bit. Universal films are generally added to HBO around 8 months after they open in theaters. If that holds true, then Cats will saunter onto HBO as the Saturday night movie sometime in late August 2020.
